The residents of Wisconsin come by their “cheesehead” nickname honestly. In 2016, Wisconsin dairy farms produced more than 30 billion pounds of milk, accounting for a whopping 14 percent of the nation’s total milk production. Dairy farming has been a cornerstone of American agriculture for generations, and the epicenter of America’s dairy production can be found in the sloping plains of rural Wisconsin. According to the USDA, 98 percent of all U.S. dairy farms are family owned and operated to this day.
One of these dairy-farming families can be found in West Bend, Wisconsin on the Golden E. Dairy Farm. When Chris Elbe and his family decided to expand their operation with a new 2,200-cow dairy facility, they knew they would need powerful tools to keep the space clean and sanitary. As you can probably imagine, these facilities can get pretty dirty when thousands of cows are being milked in them every day. That’s why the Elbe family turned to Hotsy for heavy-duty industrial pressure washers that could get the job right.
With two people pressure washing in tandem with one another, Chris estimates that they can clean their milking facility in just 20 minutes. Quite an achievement when you consider all the manure, mud and grime that accumulates in the building each day.
